Free (thought) At Last

Holy @#$%! I just finished watching Risky Business for the zillionth time on the movie channel and after a bit of channel surfing I was astonished to discover that FOX NEWS was added to my cable package. This may not be a big deal to those of you south of the border but up here in the cold liberal north it is nothing short of a Christmas miracle. Most of my friends were betting that we would be seeing Al-Jazeera on our cable line up before FOX NEWS and for awhile it seemed that would be the case. The differences between the American and Canadian cable news networks are staggering and I hope a little stylistic and ideologic competition are able to improve the pathetically dull and uninformative Canadian media for the better.

UPDATE: While I dig Greta Van Susteren, I would way rather be sitting beside Rebecca DeMornay on the subway.

Greta

Rebecca

We report...you decide!

UPDATE 2: Thanks to Glenn over at Instapundit for the link. His is one of the best on the web and I'm amazed that after being in operation for only 24 hours I already made a footprint. I couldn't have done it without you Rebecca!

Actually, Fox's slogan should be
"We decide; you listen"

That's great for you. Here in the peoples republic of (southcoast) Massachusetts my news provider choices are CNN and CNN Headline News, and this is with the bandwidth of digital cable...

hahaha.... a CNN fanboi! from Mass, no less. hahahaaahahaa. that is rich. Nobody saw that coming!

anyway, fox news is ok, but seriously all cable news is essentially the same. Watch any of them for more than 2 hours, and you will want to put a gun to your head.

Actually, say what you want about FNC's ideological bent...you can do a helluva lot better than Greta van Facelift. Linda Vester, Megyn Kendall, Jane Skinner, Heather Nauert, Patti Ann Browne, Terry Keenan...these smokin' ladies might outdo even Rebecca de Mornay. (Yeah, I know, I work at a political polling firm, so the news is playing constantly, and the channel is frequently FNC, so I've become a connoisseur of female FNC anchors and hosts.)

Canada's cable industry has done Canadian men a gigantic favor, and not just by providing a little variety in the networks' approach to news and coverage. Try not to drool.

Anybody who does watch cable news for more than two hours at a stretch needs to find a) a life, b) a job, or c) the joys of online porn so they can do something productive with their time...

Well, Fox has a number of liberal commentators. Where in hell are the conservatives on the other networks. Moon bats think giving both sides of an issue, as Fox does, is biased, whereas giving only the liberal side is kosher.

Hey, MERRY CHRISTMAS to all you PC leftist secular fools!

Thanks for the tip. I checked out Shaw Cable in Calgary and there it is on channel 142. I wish it would have been available during the US election I might not have suffered so much anxiety.

I was shocked to see that myself! I was under the impression that our delicate constitutions didn't allow us to view Fox News.

Though I *will* admit that I had a mild case of the vapours after watching O'Reilly for the first time.

Merry Foxmas!

OK, so what about us poor souls who are stuck with Rogers? I checked the Rogers web site and there's nothing about FNC. Is FNC only available on digital?

Juliette Heddy is beyond compare. Brit Hume is the standard which Fox flies it's 'Fair and Balanced' flag upon. O'Rielly is passe'. Hannity and Colmes is good for guests. The two best shows, next to special report with Brit hume, they are Beltway Boys/ Fox New's Watch. The former is good because Fred Barnes is so wacky, and Mort Kondracke has to give him the 'look'. Fox Newswatch is a collection of the strangest panel you'll ever see, that argues in a Civil Manner. Gabler and Hall come across as, dare I say reasonable, while Pinkerton looks like Hellen Keller, pre Ann Sullivan. Cal Thomas,is, well Cal Thomas. Eric Burns? The ultimate in honesty, unfortunately, I don't know if he's a republican or a dem. 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Satrurday, and late nights as well. Did I mention Juliette Heddy? Kirin Chetry? Vester, Naughert, Paige, Lauren Green, it is a dream come true.

To watch on Rogers, check 197. Digital service required.

As far as I know that is the only way to get it. It is currently running as a 90 day trial, don't know what happens after that, but as I understand it, it is being added as a digital specialty channel, so that will always be the only way to get it. Thank the CRTC.

Tune in Brit Hume's report. He forces the pundits to be ladies and gentlemen, and it's quite good. And O'Reilly just for fun. He brings up a lot of issues and makes fun of himself as often as he does the same to others.

Three Wishes: Grace Mercy Peace.

Biblical prophetic (third day) word unto fox:

And he(JC) said(JC said God said) unto them, "Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third [day] I shall be perfected". Lk 13.

Well folks, it's beyond 2,000 AD, the third day, eh.
So what can we expect but the perfection of God, eh.

The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
